Ideas-

-More background colors or pictures
-Have a project submission section
-Maybe have a forum on your blog or this site for tips and general discourse
-Possibly more and banners targeting parents and children separately for more income from ad traffic
-Try hosting some science games from other sites that will allow you to use them so more kids can access the site from school
-Have a mailing list for updates (that you send from a gmail account for this site) informing people of new content so they come back and so you may be able to sell email lists to other science site that send email ads. Make sure there is a disclaimer when they sign up for it so they know that they will receive email ads.
